Burk Parsons

Dr. Burk Parsons is senior pastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Fla., chief editorial officer for Ligonier Ministries, editor of Tabletalk magazine, and a Ligonier Ministries teaching fellow. He is author of Why Do We Have Creeds?, editor of Assured by God and John Calvin: A Heart for Devotion, Doctrine, and Doxology, and cotranslator and coeditor of A Little Book on the Christian Life by John Calvin.

 ITINERARY: OCTOBER 21 – 27, 2024


Day 1:  Arrival  –  Versailles

When you arrive in Paris, our luxury bus will be waiting to transfer you to Versailles. Take the opportunity to settle into your luxurious accommodations for the rest of the day. Later in the evening, we have arranged a special welcome dinner.

Day 2:  Versailles – Normandy

After enjoying a full breakfast, we will depart for an adventurous day to explore the beaches of Normandy. American sacrifice at Normandy and Omaha Beach remains a powerful reminder of the courage, determination, and unwavering commitment to freedom exhibited by American soldiers during World War II. The successful invasion stands as a testament to the meticulous planning and bravery of the Allied forces, particularly the Americans who landed on Omaha Beach. Their sacrifices not only secured a significant victory but also shaped the course of history, demonstrating the impact and importance of their actions.

This evening, you will have the wonderful opportunity to explore the delightful cafe and restaurant scene in the charming city of Versailles and enjoy a delicious dinner on your own.

Day 3:  Normandy – Paris

After a traditional breakfast, we will explore the Palace of Versailles.. This iconic masterpiece was constructed in the 17th century under the reign of Louis XIV, known as the Sun King. Its magnificent facade, adorned with intricate sculptures and gilded ornamentation, reflects the artistic genius of the period. The Palace of Versailles also was the focal point of the French Revolution, and 130 years later, the end of World War I with the Treaty of Versailles.

We will then leave for Paris, the city of light where we will enjoy a fabulous French Dinner together.

Day 4:  Paris

After enjoying a full breakfast, we will embark on a tour of Paris, visiting sites that have significant connections to the Protestant Reformation. We will visit the place where approximately 3,000 French Huguenots were tragically killed during the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. During this visit, we will discuss the reasons behind this horrific event and also explore how the Huguenots’ legacy continues to inspire us today. As we continue our journey, we will pass by Notre Dame Cathedral and make our way towards the University of Paris, where a young John Calvin once studied. At the peak of the hill, we will come across the grave of Jean Jacques Rousseau and engage in a discussion about the implications of his distinct philosophical views.

In the afternoon, we will pause for lunch on your own and indulge in some shopping.

Tonight, you will have the opportunity to explore Paris at your own pace and experience the city’s renowned culinary delights.

Day 5:  Paris

After breakfast at our hotel, we will begin our tour of the magnificent Louvre.

As one of the world’s largest and most famous museums, the Louvre holds a vast collection of masterpieces that span over thousands of years. One of the must-see attractions is Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. Despite its modest size, this enigmatic portrait continues to captivate millions of visitors each year. While a brief encounter with the Mona Lisa may leave one longing for more, it will undoubtedly offer a glimpse into the genius of one of history’s most celebrated artists. We will marvel at the timeless beauty of sculptures like the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace and view Nicolas Poussin’s “Moses Saved from the Waters” and Eugene Delacroix’s “Liberty Leading the People.”

We will conclude the day with a delicious dinner before beginning the debut event with Ligonier Ministries.

Day 6:  Paris

After breakfast, we will visit the Eiffle tower and it’s surrounding areas and enjoy lunch together as a group.

This evening,  you will take part in Ligonier’s unveiling of the completed Reformation Study Bible in French. Ligonier’s publishing partner has stated this may be the most significant theological publication in the French language since John Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion five centuries ago.

Day 7:  Departure – Paris

After a full breakfast, your chauffeur will assist in transferring you to your flight home from Paris.
